Overview:
Tyranny of Dragons is an epic story told across two adventure products – Hoard of the Dragon Queen and The Rise of Tiamat.
This copy of Hoard of the Dragon Queen is from the D&D Encounter line. The first three parts of that journey are shown here. It is made for 1st- to 3rd-level players, and the best party size is four.
Hoard of the Dragon Queen’s full story gets players to level 7 or 8, at which point they are ready to move on to The Rise of Tiamat.
The story takes place in the Forgotten Realms, which are on the western coast of Faerun. This area is called the Sword Coast.
Cities are spread out along this coast like beads on a string, making up a thin strip of society.
Roads and waggon tracks link the towns from Luskan in the north to Calimport in the south. Along the way, these roads and tracks pass through Neverwinter, Waterdeep, Baldur’s Gate, and other great ports.
Overview about Hoard of the Dragon:
The whole story of Hoard of the Dragon Queen takes place as the cult searches for and gathers the five dragon masks and Severin tries to put together a gold hoard that Tiamat would be proud of.
In their search for wealth, the cult has been launching raids all over the North of Faerun. These raids have hurt the people of the Sword Coast and gotten the attention of the adventurers.
The action starts when a dragon attacks a town and its friends can step in to save the people, but only after an important scholar has been taken by the attackers.
While getting a prisoner out of the raiders’ camp, the players find out they are up against the Cult of the Dragon and have the chance to kill a dragon hatchery the cult is guarding deep underground.
These events make up an exciting adventure on their own, but they can also be used as a springboard to play the full Adventure of Hoard of the Dragon Queen or the exciting organised play experiences of D&D Expeditions. For more information, look at “Additional Play” at the end of this quest.
